Terry Heaton was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He moved his family west when his boys were still young. They took up residence in a small town in central Utah. Five minutes to the west and it was all mountains, five minutes to the east it was the desert. He spent many years working and talking with cowboys, of all types. From an old man that had worked as stunt rider and extra on John Wayne movies to young men working a daily job to support a ranch. In the late 80's he returned to Ohio, for family reasons, though he would have preferred to stay where he was.
He wrote his first stories in Ohio, while he was still young, Sci-Fi and detective stories came first, the westerns were started in the early 80's.
My goal is to create emotion from my readers. If I can induce a smile or even an out-right laugh, maybe a tear or a flood of them, maybe you'll just say, "I didn't know that," or "I never thought of that."
Whatever it takes to keep you involved with the story line, i want to do.
If I can't stay interested while I'm writing it, I sure couldn't expect you to do so while reading it. Basically, my stories tell themselves, I just have to write fast enough to keep up with them. Sometimes I'll start with nothing but an opening line, maybe a last line, or it could just be a pivotal point in the middle of it. Sometimes the title comes first and then I have to work from that. The ideas can come from anywhere. If you have an idea, throw it at me, maybe it will spark something in my keyboard.
I welcome any contact. If you have any questions or want to make a suggestion, I'll answer those that I can and consider any suggestion that does not include unnatural contortions of my body. (Did I just see somebody smile?) You can find me on Facebook, I look at that now and then. You can also read the blogs here for any updates on future works.
